India Program

In 2008, Gender at Work partnered with Dalit Sthree Sakthi, (a Dalit women’s organization in Andhra Pradesh), Udaan (an educational organization in Gujarat), Hul (an indigenous organization in Assam), Men’s Action for Stopping Violence Against Women (MASVAW, in Uttar Pradesh) and Bosco Seva Kendra and Child Rights Advocacy Foundation (both in Andhra Pradesh).

Two of the five partners are working to integrate gender equality into their programs and organizational culture. For instance, MASVAW is building the capacity of their network partners to improve their gender-equality programming, while Dalit Sthree Sakthi is building innovative structures to support women’s leadership. The CSO Strengthening Program has also built networks that have led to ongoing collaborations, e.g. Bosco Seva Kendra and Child Rights Advocacy Foundation are using a team of locally trained audio-visual specialists from Udaan to make a film on their Gender-at-Work-supported organizational change.
