Dalit Sthree Sakthi (DSS)
A newly-formed organization promoting Dalit womens’ rights. DSS aims to empower Dalit women to work through gender issues such as violence, health and access to resources. Their change project is to build the capacities of the core team on gender issues so that they can transfer their understanding to the women with whom they work.
Udaan
Works on issues around primary education, with an eye to reviewing not only what is being taught and how, but also with the processes with which the community engages in the teaching/learning process. Udaan advocates for the values of equality, diversity and citizenship within their learning systems. Their change project evaluates past organizational interventions at the individual and community level and looks at ways to modify interventions based on learnings.
Hul
An indigenous Adivasi (tribal) people’s union in Assam that advocates for the rights of Adivasi. As a relatively new organization, Hul’s change project is “to embed the principles of gender equality within HUL so that gender consciousness seeps into the structure, programs, work ethics and culture.”
Men’s Action for Stopping Violence Against Women (MASVAW)
A network of over 175 individuals and 100 organizations in which men work to break down traditional, patriarchal values and stereotypes around men’s behaviour and roles within the cultural context of India. MASVAW’s change project is to promote a different type of masculinity: one where men are gender sensitive, practice non-violence, believe in equal opportunities for women and promote women’s leadership.
Bosco Seva Kendra and Child Rights Advocacy Foundation (Andhra Pradesh)
Two working on the formation of children’s parliaments in Andhra Pradesh. Children’s parliaments are local structures that encourage children aged five to fourteen to become democratically elected representatives. These bodies address issues related to children’s rights violations. By setting up a gender ministry in each parliament, the organizations' change project aims to create new cultural norms that value girls within the children’s parliaments, as well as in their schools and homes.
In the past, we have also worked with:
The Hunger Project, Dalit Bahujan Shramik Union (DBSU), Grama Vikas and Yuv Shakti
